Privacy Policy for IADS5 Mobile Application
Effective Date: 8/6/2025
This Privacy Policy describes how the IADS5 mobile application (“IADS5,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the IADS5 app on your mobile device. IADS5 is an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) viewer that allows users to view IETMs locally on their device. The app does not provide or distribute IETMs; users are solely responsible for obtaining and loading IETMs into the app. CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) or classified IETMs must be handled in accordance with applicable security protocols, and should not be accessed on personal, non-government devices. IADS5 is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
IADS5 is designed with privacy and security in mind. As such, the app:
- Does not collect personal information such as name, email address, phone number, or location.
- Does not access or transmit device identifiers (e.g., IMEI, MAC address).
- Does not track user behavior or usage analytics.
- Does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
- Does not access contacts, location, camera, microphone, or photos.
2. Information We May Access Locally
To function properly, IADS5 may access the following locally stored data on your device:
- Downloaded IETMs: Technical manuals stored on your device for offline viewing.
- App settings and preferences: Locally stored configuration data to enhance user experience.
This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to any external server.
3. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the integrity and confidentiality of any data accessed by the app. However, since IADS5 does not transmit or store data externally, the responsibility for securing device-level access rests with the user and their organization.
4. User Authentication
IADS5 does not provide access to IETMs and does not connect to external systems for authentication or content delivery. Users are responsible for independently obtaining IETMs from authorized sources and loading them into the app for viewing. If users acquire IETMs through external platforms (e.g., AESIP or other Army portals), those systems may require authentication and are governed by their own privacy policies regarding user credentials and access logs.
5. Third-Party Services
IADS5 does not integrate with third-party services, advertising platforms, or analytics providers. The app is self-contained and operates independently of external commercial services.
6. Government Use and Compliance
IADS5 is developed primarily to support U.S. Government personnel and contractors in viewing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs). However, the app is publicly available and may be used by commercial or private users. While IADS5 itself does not restrict access based on user affiliation, users are responsible for ensuring that any technical documentation viewed within the app complies with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies—especially when handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or classified materials.
Government users should follow all relevant federal privacy and security guidelines, including but not limited to:
- DoD Privacy Program (DoD Directive 5400.11)
- Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
- Privacy Act of 1974
